The European League of Legends championship, LEC, is set to implement updates to its Sporting Financial Regulations starting in the 2027 season. According to Sheep Esports, the league plans to adjust its financial framework to support the long-term viability of the ecosystem. Under the new rules, the spending threshold for esports organizations will be lowered to 1.5 million dollars, replacing the previous 2 million euro limit. Additionally, the minimum salary floor will see a reduction, moving from 1 million euros to 825,000. Organizations that exceed the established payroll limit will be required to pay a luxury tax. League officials expect that the revenue generated from these penalties will be reinvested into the development of the league and the support of other competing teams.
