The studio Digital Extremes has announced the upcoming launch of an open alpha test for its new free-to-play role-playing game, Soulframe. Starting November 6, access to the game on PC will be opened to everyone interested.
Under development for four years, the project offers an open fantasy world with a primary focus on location exploration, combat mechanics, and completing story quests. The narrative unfolds on the island of Midrath, where players assume the role of an Envoy to resist an industrial empire. The developers note that the game drew creative inspiration from works such as Princess Mononoke and The NeverEnding Story.
Alongside the launch of open access, the developers are integrating several new features into the game. These additions include the Veilands environmental progression system, an Omen Wolf riding companion, a new headless mini-boss named Veltruska, and an additional character Pact.
