Former Rockstar Developer Suggests AI Ports Could Accelerate GTA 6 PC Release

Former Rockstar Games technical director Obbe Vermeij believes that the company may need to speed up the release of the computer version of Grand Theft Auto 6 due to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence tools.

In an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, Vermeij noted that enthusiasts might attempt to independently port the game from PlayStation 5 to PC using neural networks. According to his assessment, although an unofficial AI port would be significantly inferior in quality to an official product, its emergence could noticeably impact Rockstar sales.

Vermeij emphasized that creating such a port will not be fast or cheap, requiring hundreds of hours of physical work and costing tens of thousands of dollars in tokens for AI. However, due to the extraordinary popularity of the GTA series, he is confident that fans will definitely try to implement this.

Currently, the release of GTA 6 is scheduled for November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, while a PC version has not yet been officially announced.
