An unofficial web port of the racing simulator Need for Speed Underground 2, originally released in 2004, has been launched by a group of enthusiasts under the name Underground 2 Revived. The game operates directly within web browsers and is available for free on personal computers and mobile devices.
The primary update introduced in this port is the restoration of the multiplayer mode, for which official support was ended by Electronic Arts in August 2006. The developers have substantially expanded the multiplayer capabilities to support up to 48 players simultaneously on a single map.
Additional features introduced to facilitate interaction include a text chat function for communication, team creation options, organized joint races within lobbies, and an optional ghost mode designed to prevent vehicle collisions during free roaming.
